“You’re making a choice to live like this,
And all of the noise, I am silence.
We already know how it ends tonight
You run in the dark in a firefight
And I would explode just to save your life
Yeah I would explode
Let me light up the sky
Light it up for you
Let me tell you why
I would die for you
Let me light up the sky
I can’t find a wall to pin this to
They’re all coming down since I found you
I just want to be where you are tonight
I run in the dark looking for some light
But how will we know if we just don’t try
We won’t ever know
Let me light up the sky
Light it up for you
Let me tell you why
I would die for you
Let me light up the sky
Let it up for you
Let me make this mine
I’ll ignite for you
Let me light the sky, just for you tonight
Let me help you fly
Cause you won't have time
To cover your eyes,
and get your disguise
They won't ask you why,
they’ll just watch you die.
And it's still so hard to be who you are
So you play this part,
and the show goes on.
But you've come this far with a broken heart
Yeah you've come this far,
and you've broken.
Let me light up the sky
Light it up for you
Let me tell you why
I would die for you
Let me light up the sky
Light it up for you
Let me make this mine
I'll ignite for you
I'll ignite for you
Let me light up the sky
Light it up for you
Let me tell you why
I would die for you
And it's still so hard to be who you are
But you've come this far with a broken heart
And it's still so hard to be who you are
But you've come this far with a broken...
Let me light up the sky
Let me light up the sky
This was a sort of “theme song” for our trip, which was Jersey 2. It’ s a really awesome song and every one in the group (named Summer Rush) loved it. It was usually me doing the singing of this song, although I did sing other songs inspired by other bands, bands like The Fray, My Chemical Romance, All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Lifehouse, and Linkin Park.
This song was brought onto the group, Summer Rush, the first day of the trip. I began singing it in the van, where people were ordering me to sing. Then, on the second day of the trip, at about 10:00 o’clock in the night, I heard voices outside my tent, but I wasn’t sure whether or not it really was outside of my tent, since there happened to be another tent near us. I went outside my tent, with a flashlight in hand, to find out where those familiar voices were coming from. It was pretty cold out for a summer night.
I turned to look at the picnic table next to my tent, and found Matthew and Elle staring up at the stars, lost in conversation. I joined them, and began to talk to them. Soon enough everyone was sitting on that particular picnic table, the entire Summer Rush team crammed up in a small picnic table. Someone asked me to sing a song. I don’t remember who, but I do know that as soon that person requested my singing, I began to sing Light Up The Sky by Yellowcard, since I thought it would go with the whole “staring up at the stars” moment. Even the instructors stop in their tracks to listen to my singing, and I think this whole experience, let alone this whole trip, brought every one together in some way.
