ABOUT LaLi
Hi, My name is Lauren Amber Toro. Everybody calls me LaLi. My sister gave me that nickname when I was younger and it stuck. I am 16 years old. My birthday is April 4th. I was born in Mount Sinai Medical Hospital in Spanish Harlem, and Raised in the Kingsbridge area of the Bronx. My family comes from Puerto Rico and France. I have a huge family that I love very much and we are all pretty much close. Actually, my best friend is my cousin Samantha. Growing up wasn't the easiest thing for me. But, I thank God for the past being exactly that, the past. Situations occurred that forced me to mature faster than the average child my age did. Even though it was extremely difficult at times to have to deal with family issues, I know that I could have been worse. I'm grateful that my life obstacles weren't worse. God never puts anything in your path that you cannot overcome. That's how I look at things. I just keep my head up high and my mind set straight. I'm glad things happened the way they did. Even though it wasn't always obvious at the time, events changed my life for the better.
As for school, I have attended two schools my whole life. Our Lady Of Angels School was the school I attended from pre-K until 8th grade. I entered Cardinal Spellman High School in 2005. I'm going to be a junior in September of 2007. My class is the graduating class of 2009. I'm a baton twirler in Spellman. We participate in the parades and school events such as the Christmas Concert. I am also in the Latin American club. We also perform dancing in events such as the International Culture Show.
I enjoy writing, mostly poetry. I love photography. I love taking pictures, and being in the pictures. Even though I'm not very good at it, I enjoy singing. I love anything that has to do with music. I listen to all genres of music. Some include R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Rock, Pop, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Reggae, Reggaeton, Techno, and Freestyle. My major passion is dancing. Dancing is my life. I dance to any kid of music and I'm always up for learning new things. I've been in various dance classes. Some include, gymnastics, ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop, just to name a few. In the future, I want my career to have something to do with dance. If not, I would like to go to school for business managing. If my parents can afford it, I would like to go away to college. I want to try and get out of the ghetto and make something of myself. Now, I'm not saying people can't make something of themselves living in the ghetto because a lot of people have. But, I see myself being more successful if I go somewhere else for a couple of years. No matter where I go in life, I will never forget where I come from because that's what makes me who I am today.
I live for the fun times with the people I love! Getting together with friends that care about you is the best thing to do. I wouldn't trade my memories in for all the money in the world! I am a very outgoing person and love meeting new people. I love trying new things. Experiences are a part of living. The way I see it, you can only live once so live your life to the fullest and don't regret anything you do, because if you did it, that means it's what you wanted. Live in the present because nobody knows what the future brings and tomorrow is not guaranteed.
