Get to Know Me
My name is Dalisbeth Galvez and I'm 14 years old turning 15 in September. I live in the Bronx, New York with my mom and two older brothers, Jesus Galvez and Brawnny Galvez. I come from a hispanic background; my parents are from Dominican Republic, although I was born in the Bronx. I go to Radnor High School in Wayne, Pennsylvania through an educational program where I live there for the school year and come back to my family in the summer and several holidays. As a sophmore to be, I like my school so far. I was first introduced to Campinteractive/Cat Rock by my older brother Jesus Galvez. He's been in this program for about 7 years now. I've been on one of the past trips to Vermont the summer before the last.
I have developed many interests while I was away at school during my first year. I was introduced to softball by one of my friends and have gained a likIng for the sport, besides the many injuries. I have a real passion for sports and though I was reluctant to try a sport out of my comfort zone, I got the courage to tryout for football this fall season. I'm also looking forward to basktball in he winter because it's my best sport.
Besides my interests in sports I also have an interest in various types of musIc such as Hip Hop, R & B, Spanish, Rock and Pop. My range of entertainment also stretches from TV shows such as Charmed, Reba, and Hannah Montana to movies consisting of Honey, Step Up, High School Musical and Bourne Ultimatum. In my spare time I read the Harry Potter series, The Way of The Peaceful Warrior, The Kite Runner, and The Enchanted Forest Chronicles. A few of my hobbies and activities are spending time with friends, wrting poetry, shopping, and occasional trips around town.
I love spending time with my family although they can really annoy me sometimes. I have much love for my friends and family as much as I do for myself and I always end up missing them when i'm away. My greatest dream is to become a successful equine veterenarian someday. Some of my many goals are to visit my aunt and cousins in Dominican Republic, graduate from a good college, and travel to some parts of the U.S and Europe.
I consider myself to have a strong character. I would say that i'm outgoing, funny, risky, considerate and mostly sarcatic. Many experiences in my life have contributed to my growth as a person; the love from my family and the support and long time friendships from middle school. Most of the non-academic lessons I learned through middle school were those concerning true friendship, trust, loyalty commitment, confidence, and making wise decisions. Although I have love from my family, it was difficult growing up through arguments and finally, the seperation of my parents. I learned to except what was for the best and to prioritize the most important things in my life. I believe that everything happens for a reason no matter how much pain or joy it brings.
