How-To Guides
How to do a “T” rescue:
- someone’s canoe tips over
- you row to where they are at
- you put your canoe at the end of the tipped boat so that it looks like a “T”
- the people in the water go to the other end of the canoe and pushes it down
- the people in the canoe that’s right side up pulls the tipped canoe over their boat
- they let the water drain out then flip it over to the right side
- after the canoe is on the right side they slide it back in the water
How to do camp set up:
- find a safe spot to set up camp, make sure there is no loose branches hanging from trees or that there are no dead trees around (and to be comfortable you might want to make sure that there are no rocks sticking out of the ground)*don’t set up at the bottom of a hill
- find the “perfect” spot you lay out your tarp
- Take out your tent and find the front; put your entrance in the direction you desire.
- Set up your tent
- Steak out your tent
- Fold your tarp in so that you don’t see it
- Finally get settled in you tent
Cleaning your bowls in the woods:
- eat your food, don’t leave any big pieces
- pour a little bit of water in your bowl
- swoosh it around
- drink the water
Leave no trace/low impact:
- Clean up after your self.
- Don’t step on the plants or in the bushes.
- Make sure you don’t leave food behind.
- When you take down your tent and move your campsite move the leaves and grass where your tent was at so it looks like you were never there
Camp sweep:
- Everyone you went camping with gets in a line.
- Then you start to walk very slowly and look on the ground to see if there is any garbage on the floor.
- If you see any garbage pick it up even if it was there before you got there.
- Walk past the area where your camp site was at.
- Then walk back to the spot you started at, make sure your still looking down just in case you missed some garbage.
