We woke up early to catch the flood and we made breakfast.
Coyote used our rotten bananas and made bananas flambee which was pretty
good and we were off to our next destination . The instructors taught
us how to tack which is sailing really close to the wind, which ment that
we were almost headed straight into the wind. By doing this we ended up
going in zig-zag. We got to Piermont pretty early so the instructors had
us play a game called water tag, a.k.a mob( man over board). Onrust started
the game Erin threw the Yukon to Tijger's boat and tagged them. Onrust
started sailing away and Dwight decided to throw Yukon to the Onrust but
he missed and Yukon ended up in the water so they had to go and retrieve
him. Everyone on Tijger got very frustrated because they kept going around
and around and around and they kept on missing him. Tijger crew members
went crazy and Kelly decided to kidnap Yukon and tell the Onrust crew
that he had drowned.
When we finally arrived at Piermont, we got split three
groups. Dwight, Dominique and Kelly were in group one. Ashley, Erika and
Vanessa were the second group. While Jesus, Julian, Matthew and Juan were
the third group. We had to interview about two or more people. We had
3 hours to do this project which was the first of many we did. We practice
our interviewing skills and learned the do's and don'ts and to not stereotype
because most likely you are going to be wrong. We had ice cream as a reward
for doing such a great job. They had people come up to them complementing
the job that we did and how proud they should be of us. Then it started
to rain. We had to rush to the boats and set up the tarps just in time
before the heavy rain and thunder storm came around. When it was all over
the boats were a mess, but it would have been much worst if we didn't
have the tarp up. After the storm when we looked to the west side at the
mountains behind Piermont, we could see the steam rising from the ground.
That night we had dinner (tofu, vegetables stir fry and rice) cleaned
up , had our anchor meeting and went to sleep early because we had to
wake up early in the morning to catch the flood.
