. On our way to Bear Mountain there were only little gusts of winds and every time we had Wind we had to tack. In other words we had to ""power sail"". Power sailing means sailing and rowing at the same time. Before we got to our destination the convoy (both boats) passed by one of the most dangerous nuclear power plant in the country. The power plant is called Indian Point. To our amazement, this nuclear power plant takes in water from the Hudson River. In just one day, this nuclear power plant takes in 50 million gallons of water and drops it back out into the Hudson after it has used it to cool off their generators. In this process many fish die and in some circumstances it may leak hazardous materials in the water and contaminate the Hudson River. This power plant is not the only one near the Hudson River, Still today there are many more still left which people like River Keeper are trying to put out of business.

Anyways getting back to the narration of our day. Onrust got a little too close to the power plant and some guard pointed their rifles at Onrust. Seeing that the guards were pointing their rifles at them, they quickly tacked and turned away. That was a close call! Now the hard part came almost at the very end. When our boats turned the corner to head strait to Bear Mountain and the wind. The wind started to shift started to shift and tricked everyone. Every time we took out the oars to row the wind would come back, so then we would put the oars away then suddenly the wind would pick up again. Everyone started to get frustrated and just decided to row the rest of the way like always Onrust was first to reach the docks. When both vessels arrived at the cooks started to make lunch, in which everyone ate what they pleased.

After lunch the instructors came up with an activity that required time management. The time then was 3:45:pm and the plan was to go swimming and after, hike up Bear Mountain. All had to be done in four hours and be back by 8:00pm. The group could have stayed longer but going back down the mountain at night is very dangerous and we couldn''t afford take that chance. The group decided to go to the pool from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm so that we could be on our way to hiking by 5:30 pm. From there we calculated that it would take us an hour and half to get to the top. Spend some time up there and be back down at the docks by 8:00 pm. After discussing the plan off we went to the pool and we all got a little too happy and passed our scheduled time. The consequence for this was none.

We did in one hand learn that there would be times in your life when you have two choices and you can only make one, and that one choice can completely change the future your future. One simple detail like missing one minute can have a huge impact. This was ort of like a lesson to be learned circumstance. On our way out of the pool building one of our crewmembers learned another lesson RESPONSIBILITY. Vanessa left the camera unattended and Jen one of the (instructors) waited until Vanessa started looking like crazy for the camera. Jen asked her about where the camera was and Vanessa did not answer, Jen pulled out the camera and told Vanessa to be more careful with other people''s property. To Vanessa this was a big lesson because if she had lost the camera the she would have had to pay for it when we got back home. Since we got out the pool late we didn''t go hiking and that was a relive because really no one wanted to go hiking. Instead we went back to the dock where the group played with Onrust''s mascot Yukon. After a while people started to stop playing because either they got tired or just plain and simple they gave up.

Later that night the cooks made diner. The menu was corn chowder with peach cobbler. Not the best but the best out there. During diner the Onrust and the Tijger got together and started joking around and having fun. Late that night before going to bed like always we had an ANCHOR meeting. That night the sky was so beautiful, you could see all the stars, something impossible to see in the city. For all those of you who have been in the country or have been in the outdoors know how beautiful the stars are. After the Anchor meeting it was good night for everyone.
