Welcome to our website! We hope that while you read on and view our pictures,
you experience the joys and hardships that we did. This website describes
what we did as we sailed up and back down the Hudson River during the summer
of 2002. We started at Dyckman's Marina and visited five towns along the
way to Cold Spring. After visiting Cold Spring we headed back down the river
and visited 6 towns on our way back home.
We were the first group of Camp Interactive/Outward Bound
to carry out and complete a 12-day sailing expedition on the Hudson. There
were two boats, one named Onrust and another named Tijger. Each boat had
a crew of seven people with one person who switched between boats every
day. Our first 9 days consisted of learning how to sail and getting used
to the boats themselves. The last three days we had to sail, plan, cook,
keep the boats shipshape, and navigate on our own without any of the instructors
giving us directions. Our instructors were very proud of us when we completed
our final, and we were proud of ourselves.
If you would like to look at the towns we visited feel
free to do so by clicking on any icon on the river. If you click on the
boat icons you will be able to choose from different options about life
on the boats and their crewmembers.
