About me

My name is Akiem Fagon, I'm from the South Bronx and I attend Chelsea High school in Manhattan.  This is my first year of high school. I picked this school because of their  engineering program and the fact that it is  far from my house so I get to travel to different places. I Play basketball for a hobby and do other contact sports but basketball is my favorite sport. My favorite basketball team is the Portland trailblazers.  Most people say I'm a funny  person with a sense of humor. My favorite kind of music is rap but I'll listen to other music sometimes. I like traveling to other places. My favorite way of traveling is by plane. The best place I've went to is Jamaica. My favorite food is fried chicken.

My biggest Challeange

My Biggest Challenge on this trip was not just one thing, I had many problems to overcome. One of the biggest things was hiking. We would hike many miles which is very different from walking the streets of the  Bronx. The Bronx has hills but those were mountains we climbed, they were very high and steep.Hiking would not be so hard if we did not have to carry those 40 pound backpacks. When we first put them on it was very heavy, but after hiking with them for a long time it felt lighter.Washing in the woods is a big problem because you see animals swimming in the water while you are washing and that is not good at all. Sleeping in the woods is ok but I would rather have my bed because the ground is very uncomfortable and when your in the Bronx you might hear cars, trains,or people but in the woods you hear owls, crickets, frogs, and other things. Surving in the woods is hard because you have to adapt to your environment

My favorite and worst part of trip

My favorite part of trip is when I got be around other kids it was fun everyone had there own personality they made this trip better than I thought it would be. The worst part of the trip is when I was slowing the group down the last day of hiking when my asthma was acting up and it slowed us down.

Journal entry

Day 2    7/24/01    9:50am

Last night was the first time we slept in the tent since we were got here. In the woods it gets real dark and it very hard to see anything without a flashlight it was hard to sleep. All those nosies are very annoying. When we wake up its always cold and the insects are not around because its to cold for them. It gets very cold in the morning and if it rains its even worse.
