CampInteractive is a non-profit organization determined
to introduce the creative power of technology, and the
inspiration of the outdoors, to young people in the underserved
neighborhoods of American cities. By transporting kids
out of the typical urban summer and into the wilderness,
CampInteractive encourages a sense of collaboration and
innovation, and gives our campers a renewed belief in
themselves and the possibilities for their future.
Using both technology and the wilderness as educational
tools, CampInteractive addresses two problems that an
underfunded American public educational system faces:
providing kids with technology skills for the 21st century;
and instilling a sense of community where teamwork and
self-confidence can flourish.
CampInteractive was formed through the partnership of
Jake Blair and Arthur J. Halleran, Jr. It began operation
in February of 2001 with the first summer program beginning
in July of the same year.
