Development Associate

CampInteractive (CI) is looking for an energetic, results-driven self-starter to join our growing team as Development Associate. This individual must be passionate about fundraising and motivated by CI’s unique mission.

For over 10 years CI has introduced New York’s inner-city youth to the creative power of technology and the inspiration of nature through a combination of outdoor adventure, environmental education, and technology programming. Headquartered at our Tech and Trek Center in the Bronx, CI operates a comprehensive after-school program, a summer technology institute, and regular outdoor leadership trips, along with providing a safe community space for students to meet, learn and have fun.

The Development Associate will be primarily responsible for helping lead CI's overall fundraising efforts to raise an annual budget in excess of $500K. Ideal candidates will have a creative and strategic development vision, an interest in emerging trends in education, technology and the outdoors, and a commitment to social change. He/she will be responsible for working collaboratively across multiple CI teams and generating new ideas and concepts, leveraging CI's previous successes to deepen and broaden our support base. Working closely with CI leadership, the Development Associate will be a critical team member focused on securing support from foundations, corporations, governments and individuals and helping to identify, cultivate and deliver on funding opportunities.

Responsibility

  • Support development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan with the goal of long-term sustainable growth
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of active and potential donors
  • Establish measurable goals for acquisition of new and continuing support
  • With CI leadership, identify and cultivate major donors and prospects
  • Manage and execute the grant program portfolio by researching and identifying prospects, writing grants and letters of inquiry and reporting grant performance
  • Assist in coordinating fundraising events, meetings, and programs
  • Assist in developing and tailoring CI donor messaging

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated self-starter with proven ability to multi-task, deliver against goals and work in team-based environment
  • Excellent written and oral communications skill; grant writing experience preferred
  • Ability to set priorities, balance short and long-term objectives to lay foundation for long-term success
  • Team player who is hands-on, well-organized and comfortable working in a small, high-energy environment
  • Passion for CI’s mission and deep commitment to helping under-served young people gain practical skills and expand their life opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated fundraising experience with proven track-record in securing support from individual and institutional donors
  • Experience building and managing relationships with individual donors, foundations and corporations; online donor and social marketing experience a plus
  • Familiarity with NYC's philanthropic community, youth development funding sources and the technology/outdoors businesses communities a plus
  • Bachelors degree required, graduate degree preferred
